Christmas Tree Potholder
DIRECTIONS

Materials: Cotton 4 ply 2 1/2 oz White & Small Amount Green, Red, Yellow, Gold
Crochet Hook Size G
Approximate Size 7" Square
Notes: When changing colors always drop yarn to wrong side of work. Work
over dropped color across to next section of same color. Fasten off colors
when no longer needed.
Row 1: With white, ch 26, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn (25
sc)
Rows 2-27: Ch 1, sc in each st across changing colors according to graph, turn.
At end of last row, do not turn.
Row 28: Working around outer edge, ch 1, sc in end of each row and in each st
around with 3 sc in each corner, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off.
Border:
Row 1: Repeat same row of front.
Row 2-27: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. At end of last row, do not turn.
Row 28: Repeat same rnd of front.
Finishing:
With green, using outline stitch embroider tree trunk as shown in photo.
With yellow, using outline sitch, embroider garland using photo as a guide for
placement.
With red, using French knot, embroider 10 sts randomly spaced around tree.
With gold using straight stitch, embroider 3 stitches at top of tree.
Holding back and front wrong sides together, matching sts, with 2 strands of
red held together, whipstitch around outer edge, working over sts of rnd 28 as
shown.
For hanger, with white, ch 12, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 1, 24 sc in ring, join
with sl st to first sc. Leaving 6" for sewing, fasten off.
Sew to center top of potholder.
