Materials: Crochet Cotton 1 Ball each of Pink and White

Crochet Hook Steel Size 7

Shell

With pink, ch 17 to measure 1 3/4".

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2 to 6: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 7: 2 sc in first sc, * sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sc.
Ch 3, turn.

Row 8: 2 dc in first sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc, skip next sc, * 3 dc in next sc, skip next sc, sc in
next sc. Repeat form * across, ending with 3 dc in last sc. Ch 3, turn.

Row 9: 2 dc in center dc of first group, * ch 1, 3 dc in center dc of next group. Repeat form * across.
Ch 3, turn.

Row 10: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next group. Repeat from * across. ending
with dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn.

Row 11: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 1, 2 dc in first dc of next dc group (an increase made), , dc
in next dc, 2 dc in next dc (another increase made), . Repeat from * across, ending with ch 1, dc in
each dc of last dc group, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn.

Row 12: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat form * across,
ending with dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn.

Row 13: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc, increasing 1 dc at both ends of next dc
group. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 dc over last dc group. Ch 3, turn.

Rows 14 & 15: Repeat rows 12 and 13 once more.

Rows 16, 17 & 18: Repeat 12th row.

Row 19: Skip first dc, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 2 dc, thread over
and draw through all loops on hook (dc cluster made). * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat
form * across to within last dc group, ch 1, make a dc cluster over first 2 dc of last group, dc in top of
turning chain. Ch 2, turn.

Row 20: Skip first dc, dc in top of cluster. * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across
to within last 2 sts, ch 1, make a cluster over last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn.

Row 21: Sl st in top of cluster, ch 1, make a cluster over first 2 dc of next dc group, dc in each
remaining dc of same group, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat form * across to within
last 2 dc on last dc group, make a cluster. Ch 3, turn.

Row 22: Skip first cluster, dc in each dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across,
ending with a dc in top of cluster. Ch 3, turn.

Row 23: Skip first dc, make a cluster over next 2 sts, dc in each remaining dc of same group, * ch 1,
dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across to within last 2 sts, make a cluster. Ch 3, turn.

Row 24: Repeat 22nd row.

Row 25: Repeat 23rd row.

Row 26: Skip first dc, make a 3-dc cluster over next 3 dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group.
Repeat from * across to within last 4 sts, make a 4-dc cluster. Ch 1, turn.

Row 27: Sl st in first cluster, ch 1, sc in first dc of next dc group, hdc in next dc, dc in next dc, tr in
next 3 dc, dc in next dc, hdc in next dc, sc in next dc, (ch 1, hdc in first dc of next group, dc in next dc,
tr in next dc, dtr in next 3 dc, tr in next dc, dc in next dc, hdc in next dc) twice; ch 1, sc in first dc of
next dc group, hdc in next dc, dc in next dc, tr in next 3 dc, dc in next dc, hdc in next dc, sc in last dc
of group, ch 1, sl st in tip of cluster of next dc group. Break off. Fasten ends securely.

Trimming:

With white, ch 15 to measure 1 ½"

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in each sc across, ch 37 to measure 3 3/4". Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in each ch across,
skip first sc on 2nd row, sl st in next sc on same row; ch 50 to measure 4 3/4", work across chain as
before; skip 1 sc on 2nd row, sl st in next sc, (ch 47 to measure 4 ½", complete as for other chains) 3
times. Make two more chains, one measuring 4 3/4" and the other 3 3/4". Break off. Sew trimming in
place as in pic. Make another piece the same way.

Edging:

Rnd 1: With wrong sides facing and working through both thicknesses, attach white to any corner at
top, make 3 sc in same place, sc closely around entire potholder, making 3 sc in opposite corner.
Join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2 & 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc, making 3 sc in center sc of each 3-sc group. Join and break off at end
of 3rd rnd. With white sc chain for hanging. Sew in place.
