Materials: South Maid Crochet Cotton 400 yds
Steel Crochet Hook Size 8 or 1.25
Spray Starch
Tapestry Needle
Finished Size Approximately 12” x 13”
Gauge: 7 sp or bl = 2”; 4 rows = 1”
Note: When working pattern, 4 dc = 1 bl, 7 dc = 2 bl. Add 3 dc for each attached bl. When
following chart, work right side rows from right to left and wrong side rows from left to right.
Starting at lower edge, ch 131.
Row 1: (right side): Dc in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, sk next 2 ch, dc in next ch. Rep from *
across. Ch 5, turn. (42 sp)
Row 2: Sk first sp (turning ch counts as first dc and first ch-2), dc in next dc, * ch 2, sk
next sp, dc in next dc. Rep from * across to within last sp, ch 2, sk first 2 ch of turning ch,
dc in next ch. Always ch 5, turn at end of each row throughout.
Rows 3-6: Rep row 2.
Row 7: (right side): Work 20 sp, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc) 4 times, work spaces to
end of row.
Row 8: Work 17 sp, 2 dc in next sp, dc in each of next 13 dc, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next
dc) 6 times, work spaces to end of row. Starting with row 9, follow chart to end. At end of
last row, do not break off or ch-5. Ch 3, turn.
Border:
In sp just made work 2 dc, then work 3 dc in each sp around, and at same time in each
corner sp work (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc), end with 3 dc and ch 3 in starting sp to complete first
corner. Join with sl st in top of ch-3 and break off.
Finishing:
Weave in ends. Spray starch, if desired. Pin out to size on padded surface, with rustproof
pins. Press, remove when dry.
