Materials: Crochet Cotton Size 20 Small Amt White
Steel Crochet Hook Size 13
50 inches 1-inch wide light blue satin ribbon
15 inches ¾” wide non roll elastic

Finished Size 14 inches circumference unstretched
Gauge: On bottom edge work evenly and consistently, on foundation row work 8 repeats
to the inch. On top edge, (sc, ch 1) 9 times = 1 inch
Notes: Weave in loose ends as work progresses. With care, crochet hook will easily pass
through ribbon thicknesses. Hold ribbon sections with fingers and gently insert hook as
close to holding point as possible, work gently so as not to split ribbon fibers.
Ribbon Preparation: Cut 10 inches from ribbon, cut rem 40 inches in half. Set aside.
Working with 20-inch length of ribbon, allowing ¼” seam allowance, sew ends together.
Garter Bottom:
Rnd 1: (right side): Holding both 20-inch lengths of ribbon together, allowing ¼” seam
allowance on unsewn piece ob ribbon (sewn ribbon facing) and working through both
thicknesses, working as close to edge as possible, attach white cotton at seam, (ch 3,
insert hook through ribbon thicknesses and complete sl st) rep around working 8 groups
of ch 3 and sl st to the inch, ending with sl st in same place as beg st, do not turn.
Rnd 2: Sl st into ch-3 lp, ch 1, sc in same ch lp, ch 3, (sc in next ch-3 lp, ch 3) rep around,
sl st to join in beg sc, do not turn.
Rnd 3: Sl st into next ch-3 lp, ch 3, 1 dc in same ch-3 lp, ch 3, (2 dc in next ch-3 lp, ch 3)
rep around, sl st to join in top of beg ch-3, do not turn.
Rnd 4: Sl st into ch-3 lp, ch 1, sc in same ch-3 lp, ch 4, (sc in next ch-3 lp, ch 4) rep
around, sl st to join in beg sc, do not turn.
Rnd 5: Sl st into ch-4 lp, ch 1, sc, ch 4 and sc in same ch-4 lp, ch 4, (sc, ch 4 and sc in
next ch-4 lp, ch 4) rep around, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off.
Garter Top:
Rnd 1: (right side): Working on opposite edge of ribbons in same manner as garter
bottom, ch 1, sc in same sp as beg ch-1, ch 1, (work 1 sc, ch 1) rep around, sl st to join,
do not turn.
Rnd 2: Sl st into ch-1 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp as beg ch-1, ch 2, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2)
rep around, join, fasten off.
Flower: (make 1):
Rnd 1: Leaving a 6-inch length of cotton at beg, ch 5, join to form a ring, (ch 3, retaining
last lp of each dc on hook, work 3 dc in ring, yo, draw through all lps on hook, ch 3, sl st in
ring) 5 times, leaving a 6-inch length of cotton, fasten off.
Finishing:
Lightly starch and press garter bottom.
Attach safety pin to end of elastic, gently ease elastic through ribbon casing. Sew ends
together with sewing needle and thread, overlapping ends ½ inch.
With sewing needle and thread, fold ends of ribbon under and sew back opening closed.
Fold rem 10-inch length of ribbon into a bow. With sewing needle and thread, invisibly sew
bow to garter. With rem lengths of cotton at beg and end of flower, sew flower, centered,
over knot of bow. Sew E bead to center of flower.
