Victorian Lace Bedspread
Materials: Red Heart 4 Ply Yarn 16 (20) Skeins
Crochet Hook Size I or 5.50 mm
Directions are for single bed size (about 68" x 92"); changes for double bed
size (about 92" x 92") are given in parenthesis.
Pattern Stitches:
3-Trc Cluster: * (yo hook) 2 times, draw up a loop in next ch-space, (yo and
though 2 loops on hook) 2 times, repeat from * twice, yo and through 4 loops
on hook–one 3-trc cluster made.
4-Trc Cluster: * (yo hook) 2 times, draw up a loop in next ch-space, (yo and
through 2 loops on hook) 2 times, repeat form * 3 times, yo and through 5
loops on hook–4-trc cluster made.
Motif: Make 59 (85). Ch 8, join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 7 for first trc and ch 3, * trc in ring, ch 3; repeat from * 6 times
more–8 trc counting starting ch. Join with sl st to 4th ch of starting ch.
Rnd 2: Sl st in ch-3 space, ch 4 for first trc, in same space work 3-trc cluster,
ch 4, 4-trc cluster for corner, * ch 5, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 5, in next ch-3
space work 4-trc cluster, ch 4, and 4-trc cluster for corner; repeat from * 2
times more, end ch 5, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 5, join with sl st to top of 3-trc
starting cluster–4 corners made.
Rnd 3: Sl st in ch-4 corner, ch 4 for first trc, in same space work 3-trc cluster,
ch 4, 4-trc cluster for corner, * (ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space) 2 times, ch 5, in
ch-4 space between clusters work 4-trc cluster, ch 4, and 4-trc cluster for

Rnd 6: Working from wrong side, ch 2, for first hdc, hdc in each dc around, at

Half Motifs: Make 4. Ch 4.
Row 1: Work 4 dc in 4th ch from hook. Turn.
Row 2: Sl st in first dc, ch 2 for first dc, 2 dc in same dc as ch-3, dc in each of
next 3 dc, 3 dc in top of ch-3 of row 1. Turn.
Row 3: Sl st in first dc, ch 3 for first dc, dc in same dc as ch-3, dc in each of
next 7 dc, 2 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
Row 4: Sl st in first dc, ch 3 for first dc, dc in same dc as ch-3, dc in each dc

Row 5 through 13: Repeat Row 4–31 dc on row 13.
Border:
Working up side of triangle, work 2 sc in each dc post to top corner, work 3
sc in top corner, 2 sc in each dc post to lower edge, 3 sc at corner, sc in
each dc across bottom edge, 3 sc in last corner, join with sl st to first sc.
Fasten off.
Finishing:
Following diagram, join motifs together as follows: right sides together,
working through 2 thicknesses, sc motifs together.
Outer Border:
Rnd 1: Right side facing, working across top of bedspread, sc across half-
motifs; dec 2 sc anywhere on each half-motif. (To dec 1 sc: Draw up a loop in
each of 2 sc, yo and through 3 loops on hook). When last half-motif has been
worked, turn; sc across same group of sts and dec 2 sc across each half-
motif. Turn, sc evenly across half-motifs again, then continue in sc around
remaining 3 sides of bedspread; work 3 sc at each outside corner (point) and
dec 1 sc at each inside corner. When rnd is completed, join with sl st. Turn.
Rnd 2: Wrong side facing, sc around, work 3 sc at each outside corner; at
inside corners work to 2 sc before corner, work 3 dc in corner, skip 2 sc,
continue around next motif in sc. At end of rnd, join with sl st. Turn.
Rnd 3: Right side facing, sc in each sc, work outside corners as before, at
inside corners work to 2 sc before 3-dc group, 2 sc in first sc of corner, dc in
center dc, 2 dc in next dc, skip 2 sc, continue around motif in sc. At end of
rnd, join as before. Turn.
Rnd 4: Wrong side facing, sc in each sc, at outside corners work 3 sc, at
inside corners work to 2 sc before dc, 2 dc in first dc of corner, dc in each dc
