Valentine Potholders
Materials: 4-Ply Yarn 2 ½ ozs each of red and pink, 1 oz white
Crochet Hook Size G/6 or 4.50 mm
2 Plastic 1" Rings
Tapestry Needle
Heart Potholder:
Front:
Row 1: With pink yarn, ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each remaining ch across, turn. (30)
Rows 2-6: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Rows 7-25: Following heart graph, ch 1, sc in each sc across, changing yarn colour according to
graph and working over yarn colour not in use, turn.
Rows 26-30: Ch 1, sc in each sc, turn.
At end of row 30, fasten off.
Back:
Row 1: With pink yarn, ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. (30)
Rows 2-30: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
At the end of row 30, fasten off.
Joining:
Rnd 1: Holding front and back tog, with front facing and working through both thicknesses, attach white
yearn, ch 1, sc evenly sp around, working 3 sc in each corner st, sl st to join in beg sc, fasten off.
Hanging Loop:
Rnd 1: Attach white yarn to plastic ring, ch 1, work 30 sc over ring, sl st to join, leaving a length of
yarn, fasten off. Sewing hanging loop to front center of potholder. You can also make a chain loop for
hanging.
Love Potholder:
Front:
Row 1: With red yarn, ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from hook sc in each rem ch across, turn. (30)
Rows 2-9: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Rows 10-20: Following “Love” graph, ch 1, sc in each sc across, changing yarn colour according to
graph and working over yarn colour not in use, turn.

At the end of row 30, fasten off.
Back:
Row 1: With red yarn, ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn.
