Lower Body:
Using green, ch 21.
Base Row: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end. Turn. 20 hdc.
Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), 2 hdc in hdc at base of 2 ch. 1 hdc in each of next 18
hdc, 3 hdc in last hdc. Turn. 24 hdc.
Row 2: Ch 3, 2 hdc in hdc at base of 3 ch, 1 hdc in each st to last st, 3 hdc in last st. Turn.
Rep 2nd row once more. 32 hdc.
Row 4: Ch 3, 1 hdc in hdc at base of 3 ch, 1 hdc in each st to last st, 2 hdc in last st. Turn.
Rep 4th row until there are 40 hdc. Work even for 23 rows. Dec 1 hdc in each of next and
every following row until there are 32 hdc. * Dec 2 hdc at each end of next and following 2
rows. Turn. Don not break off yarn.
Head:
Next Row: Sl st over 6 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc in each of next 7 sts. Turn.
Work 2 rows of hdc.
Increase 1 hdc at each end of every row until there are 16 sts.
Work even for 4 rows.
Decrease 1 hdc at each end of every row until 6 sts remain. Fasten off.
Upper Body:
Work Base Row and first 3 rows as for lower body.
Row 4: Ch 2, 1 hdc in st at base of 2 ch, 1 hdc in each of next 5 sts, 2 hdc in next st, 1

Head Gusset:
Using green, ch 24.
Base Row: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each ch to end. 23 hdc.
Row 1: Ch 2, 1 hdc in each fo next 19 sts. Turn.
Row 2: Sl st over first 3 sts, ch 2, 1 hdc in each of next 15 sts. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 2, 1 hdc in each of next 13 sts. Turn.

Using green, ch 4 and join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * , ending with a sl st
in top of 2 ch. Do not turn.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * , ending with a sl st
in top of 2 ch. Do not turn.
Rnd 3: As 2nd round.
Rnd 4: Ch 2, 1 hdc in each st to end, ending with a sl st in top of 2 ch. Do not turn. Fasten

Shell:
Using orange, ch 4 and join with a sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 11 dc in ring, sl st to top of 3 ch. Break off yarn. Do not turn.
Rnd 2: Join in red, ch 3, (3 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc) 5 times, 3 dc in next dc, sl st to
top of 3 ch. Break off yarn. Do not turn.
Rnd 3: Join yellow, ch 3, 1 dc in next dc, (3 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc) 5
times, 3 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc, sl st to top of 3 ch. Fasten off.
Make 6 more motifs in same way as first, then 6 starting with yellow, then orange and red,
and 6 starting with red, then yellow and orange.
To Finish:
Stitch head gussets in place from A to B on upper and lower body (see diagram). Stitch
around body, starting at C to B, across nose, then B to D on other side. Fill head and
body with stuffing. Stitch from C to D.
Fold legs in half, fill and stitch.
Fill tail lightly and stitch. Cut features from scraps of felt and sew in place. Make shell with
one motif in center, 6 motifs joined around it and 12 motifs in a circle around the 6. Join by
placing WS together and working a row of sc in green along one side of motif through
both thicknesses. Join the next motif working sc along adjacent edges, and finally working
a row of sc around edge. Lay shell over body and sew in place.

Work even for 4 rows.
