Tree of Light Stocking
Materials: Knitting Worsted Weight Yarn; 7 ½ oz White, 2 ½ oz Red, Small Amts Dk
Green, Lt Green, Dk Blue, Gold, Turquoise, Brown and Orange
Aluminum Crochet Hook Size G or 4.50 mm
Tapestry Needle
Front:
With white, ch 32.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (31 sc)
Row 2: Work 2 sc in first sc, sc across, work 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. (33 sc)
Rows 3 & 4: Rep row 2.
Rows 5 to 7: Sc across to last st, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. (40 sc)
Row 8: Sc in each sc across.
Row 9: Sc across to last st, 2 sc in last sc. (40 sc)
Row 10: Rep row 8.
Row 11: Rep row 9. (42 sc)
Rows 12 to 22: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 23: Sc in each of first 26 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 24 to 66: Work even on these 26 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 67: Join red and work in checkerboard, * 2 sc red, 2 sc white. Rep from * across.
Ch 1, turn.
Row 68: Rep row 67.
Row 69: Reversing colours, work red sc over white sc and white sc over red sc.
Row 70: Work even in same colours as last row.
Row 71: Rep row 67.
Row 72: Rep row 70. Break off.
Back:
Work same as for front.
Embroidery:
Using chart for design and colour key for colours, emborder design in cross stitch, on
front piece, centering design.
Finishing:
Fold checkerboard border plus 2 rows of white over to right side of stocking. Do
same on 2nd piece, reversing shaping of stocking. Sew edges with couple of stitches.
With red work 1 rnd of sc around, working through both pieces, leaving top edge
open. Ch 15 at end of round for hanger. Sew end of chain to form loop.
