Materials: 14 ozs Sport Weight Yarn
Crochet Hook Size H or 5.00
Finished Size Approximately 33” Square
Gauge: In pattern stitch, 1 shell + 1 PC = 1 ½”
Ch 140 loosely.
Row 1: (wrong side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch across. (139 sc)
Now work in pattern stitch as follows:
Row 2: (foundation stitch): Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in first sc (beg ½ shell made); sk next 2 sc. PC
(popcorn) in next sc [To make PC: Work 4 sc in st; remove hook from lp and insert in first
sc of 4-sc group just made; hook dropped lp and pull though st, ch 1 (PC made); * sk next
2 sc, work 5 dc in next sc (shell made); sk next 2 sc, PC in next sc; rep from * to last 3 sc;
sk next 2 sc, 3 dc in last sc (½ shell made).
Row 3: (pattern row): Ch 1, turn; sc in first dc, work shell (5 dc) in ch-1 at top of next PC; *
PC in center dc of next shell [To make PC on wrong side of work: Work 4 sc in st; remove
hook from lp and insert from back to front in first sc of 4-sc group just made; hook
dropped lp and pull through st (pushing sts out to front of work), ch 1 (PC made)]; work
shell in ch-1 at top of next PC; rep form * across to ½ shell at end of row; sc in top of ch-3
of ½ shell.
Row 4: (pattern row): Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in first sc (beg ½ shell made), PC in center dc of
next shell; * work shell in ch-1 at top of next PC, PC in center dc of next shell; rep from *
across to last sc; 3 dc in last sc (½ shell made).
Rep rows 3 and 4 until blanket measures approximately 33” long, ending by working row 4.
Last Row: Ch 1, turn; work sc in each dc and in each PC across, ending sc in top of ch-3
(139 sc). Finish off; weave in all ends.
