Sheep Heart Kitchen Set
Materials: Red Heart 4 ply Yarn 3 oz Skeins; 2 Skeins White, 1 Skein each Blue,
Vermillion and Black.
Crochet Hooks Size G/6 or 4.50 mm and K/10 or 7.00 mm
Yarn Needle
Note: Easy to Make
Gauge: Hook Size G; 4 sc or 4 sc rows = 1”
To Change Colours: Retain last 2 lps of sc before colour change on hook. Pick up new
colour, drop colour not in use to wrong side of work, work off remaining lps of sc with new
colour. Use separate balls of each colour for each section. Do not carry colours across
back of work or work over strands unless otherwise indicated.
All items are crocheted with crochet hook Size G except the oven mitt which is worked with
crochet hook size K and 2 strands of yarn hold together.
Hot Pad:
Row 1: With blue yarn, ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, ch 1, turn.
Rows 2-29: Following graph for colour changes, sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. Fasten
off at the end of row 29.
Edging:
Rnd 1: With right side facing you, attach vermillion with a sl st in any st, sc in each st
around entire outer edge of hot pad, having 3 sc in each corner st, sl st to join, fasten off,
turn.
Rnd 2: With wrong side facing you, rep rnd 1 with white yarn.
Rnd 3: With right side facing you, rep rnd 1 with blue.
Potholder:
Row 1: With white yarn, ch 22, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, ch 1,
turn. (21)
Row 2-20: Following graph for colour changes, sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. Fasten off
at the end of row 20.
Edging:
Rnds 1 & 2: Rep rnds 1 and 2 of hot pad edging.
Rnd 3: Rep rnd 3 of hot pad edging, except in top left corner, work (sc, ch 10, sl st in first
ch, sc) in corner st for hanging loop.
Placemat:
Center Section:
Row 1: With blue, ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, ch 1, turn. (30)
Row 2-44: Following graph for colour changes, sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. Fasten off
at end of row 44.
End Sections: (make 2):
Row 1: With white yarn, ch 17, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, ch 1,

Finishing:
With right sides together and points of hearts (bottom) facing center, sew end sections to
center section with white yarn.

Napkin Ring:
Rnd 1: With blue yarn, ch 20, join to form a ring, ch 1, sc in same ch, sc in each rem ch
around, join, fasten off, turn.
Rnd 2: Attach white yarn in any sc of rnd 1, ch 1, sc in each sc around, join, fasten off,
turn.
Rnd 3: Attach vermillion in any sc of rnd 2, ch 1, sc in each sc around, join, fasten off.

Back:
Row 1: With 2 strands of white yarn and crochet hook size K, ch 11, sc in 2nd ch from
hook, sc in each rem ch across, ch 1, turn. (10)
Rows 2 & 3: Work 2 sc in first sc, sc in each rem sc across to within last sc, 2 sc in last sc,
ch 1, turn.
Rows 4-19: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 20: Dec 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc, pick up 2 strands of black yarn, sc in
next 5 sc with black yarn, pick up white, dec 1 sc over next 2 sc, ch 1, turn. (12)
Row 21: Pick up black, fasten off white, sc in next 7 sc sts, attach white, sc in next 3 sc,
dec 1 sc over next 2 sc, fasten off white, turn. (11)
Row 22: Insert hook in 4th sc of white section, pull black strands through, ch 1, sc in same

Top Palm Section:
Rows 1-14: Rep rows 1-14 of back, fasten off, turn.
Row 15: Working in back lps only, attach white yarn with a sl st in 4th sc, ch 1, sc in same
st, sc in next 7 sc sts, ch 1, turn. (8)
Rows 16-20: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Rows 21 & 22: Dec 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in each sc across to within last 2 sc, dec 1 sc
over next 2 sc, ch 1, turn. At end of row 22, fasten off.
Bottom Palm Section:
Row 1: With white yarn, ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, ch 1,
turn. (12)
Row 2: Work 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across to within last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1,
turn. (14)
Rows 3-6: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. At the end of row 6, fasten off.
Row 7: Working through both lps, rep row 15 of top palm section.
Rows 8-14: Rep rows 16-22 of top palm section.
Finishing:
With right sides together, sew palm sections together, turn thumb section right side out.
With right sides together, sew palm and back together, turn right side out.
Hanging Loop:
With 2 strands of white yarn and crochet hook size K, attach yarn with a sl st at tail end,
ch 10, sl st in same st, fasten off.
Legs:
Back Leg:
Row 1: With 2 strands of black yarn and crochet hook size K, attach with a sl st on edge of
row 5, sc in same st, sc in ends of next 2 rows, ch 1, turn. (3)
Rows 2 & 3: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. At the end of row 3, fasten off. Weave in
loose ends.
Front Leg:
Rows 1-3: Sk 7 rows across sheep’s tummy, rep rows 1-3 of back leg.
Heart:
Row 1: With crochet hook size G and 1 strand of vermillion yarn, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from
hook, sc in each rem ch across, ch 1,turn. (3)
Row 2: Work 2 sc n first sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (5)
Row 3: Work 2 sc in first sc, sc in each rem sc across, ch 1, turn. (6)
Row 4: Sk first sc, sc across to within last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (6)
