Stitches Used:
Beg Cl (beginning cluster): Ch 4 (counts as tr), holding back last lp of each st on
hook, tr in next 3 sts, yo and draw through all 4 lps on hook.
Cl (cluster): Holding back last lp of each st on hook, tr in next 4 sts, yo and draw
through all 5 lps on hook.
Note: To change yarn colour, work last st of current colour, keeping last loop. Drop
current colour, yo with new colour, and draw through both lps on hook.
Sunflower Block:
Make 48.
With brown, ch 4.
Rnd 1: Work 15 dc in 4th ch from hook; sl st to top of beg ch-3--16 sts.
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc); * 2 dc in next st, dc in next st; rep from * around, ending
2 dc in last st; sl st to top of beg ch-3--24 sts.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in next st; * 2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts;
rep from * around, ending 2 sc in last st; sl st to beg sc with gold–32 sts. Fasten off
brown.
Rnd 4: Ch 2 (counts as hdc); * 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st; rep from * around; sl st
to top of beg ch-2--48 sts.
Rnd 5: Beg cl; * ch 5, cl over next 4 sts; rep from * around, ending ch 5; with green sl
st to top of beg cl with green–12 cl petals. Fasten off gold.
Rnd 6: Sl st to first ch-5 sp, ch 1; (6 sc in each ch-5 sp) around; sl st to beg sc–72
sts.
Rnd 7: Ch 4 (counts as tr), working in each st around, dc, hdc; * 12 sc, hdc, dc, tr, ch
4 **, tr, dc, hdc; rep from * around, ending at **; sl st to top of beg ch-4. Fasten off.
Assembly: Arrange blocks into eight horizontal rows with six blocks each. Use gold to
join all blocks.
Horizontal Seams:
Beginning at upper right had corner of arrangement, place first 2 blocks of first 2
horizontal rows with right sides tog, sk corner ch-4 sp and join yarn (draw up a lp, ch
1) in inside (front) lps of first st to left of corner sp on both blocks. Sc in same sp as
joining; * sc in inside (front) lps of each st across blocks to corner ch-4 sp, ch 4, sk
corner ch-4 sp; rep from * across row, picking up next 2 blocks of row. Fasten off
