Santa in the Chimney Stocking
Materials: Knitting Worsted Weight Yarn; 3 oz Main Colour (MC), 2 oz each Red &
Black, Small Amts Yellow, Tan & Green
Aluminum Crochet Hook Sizes G or 4.50 and E or 3.50 mm
Stuffing
Leg:
With red and G hook, ch 12.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2-6: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. At end of row 6, fasten off. Attach black.
With black, ch 1, turn.
Boot:
Row 7: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 8-12: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 13: Work 6 sc in next sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 6 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 14 & 15: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. At end of row 15, fasten off. Sew
bottom and front seams and stuff.
Cuff:
Rnd 16: Attach white in skipped front loop of row 7, sc in each sc around.
Row 17: Sc in each sc across. Fasten off.
Make a 2nd piece in the same manner. Lay aside.
Stocking:
With MC and G hook, ch 36.
Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook, (sc in next ch, hdc in next ch) 17 times. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: * Sc in next st, hdc in next st; rep from * across.
Row 3: * Hdc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * across.
Rows 4-13: Rep rows 2 and 3.
Row 14: (Sc in next st, hdc in next st) 11 times, leave rem sts unworked.
Rows 15-27: * Sc in next st, hdc in next st; rep from * across. Fasten off at end of row
27.
Row 28: Attach red, (sc in next st, hdc in next st) 2 times, attach leg as follows,
holding leg along row 27, working thru both thicknesses, (sc in next st, hdc in next st)
3 times, sc in next st, attaching 2nd leg, (hdc in next st, sc in next st) 3 times, hdc in
next st, (sc in next st, hdc in next st) 3 times.
Rows 29-39: Rep row 15. Fasten off at end of row 39. With white embroider brick
markings on row 28 to 39.
Christmas Tree:
With green and G hook ch 10.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc next 2 sc tog, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 3-8: Rep row 2.
Row 9: Sc next 2 sc tog. Fasten off.
Trunk:
Row 1: Attach tan in center st at bottom and work 2 sc in same st.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Attach tree to stocking. Make yellow French
knot for lights.
Package #1:
With red and E hook, ch 4.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2-3: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. At end of row 3, fasten off.
Package #2:
With white and E hook, ch 6.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 2-3: Sc in ach sc across. Ch 1, turn. At end of row 3, fasten off.
Attach pkgs to tree. Tie short strands of yarn in center for bows.
Back of Stocking:
With MC, work same as for front omitting all decorations.
Finishing:
With wrong sides together and working thru both thicknesses, sc evenly around
stocking, leaving top open. Fasten off.
Cuff:
Starting at center back, work 3 rnds of sc evenly around. At end of rnd 3, ch 15, join
with sl st in first st and fasten off, for loop.
Wreath:
With green and E hook, ch 15. Join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Work 22 sc in ring. Join.
Rnd 2: (Hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st) 11 times. Join and fasten off. Make red
French knots for berries. Tie red strand of yarn at top for bow.
