Finished Size Approximately 11 ½” Diameter
Gauge: 9 sps = 3”; 9 rows = 2”
Starting at bottom of chart, ch 40.
Row 1: Tr in 5th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 15, turn. (37 tr counting first ch 4
as 1 tr)
Row 2: Tr in 5th ch from hook, tr in 10 ch (3 bls increased), tr in 36 tr, then make a
foundation tr as follows: Thread over book twice, insert hook in top st of turning ch and
draw loop through; thread over and draw through 1 loop (1 ch st made, to be used as a
foundation st for next tr); complete tr in usual way. Make 11 more foundation tr and1 tr in
the usual way (3 bls increased). Ch 15, turn.
Row 3: Tr in 5th ch from hook, tr in 10 ch (3 bls increased), tr in 13 tr (3 bls over 3 bls), ch
1, sk 1 tr, tr in next tr, ch 1, sk 1 tr, tr in next tr (shadow sp over bl), make 8 more shadow
sps, tr in 11 tr, foundation tr in top st of turning ch, make 11 more foundation tr and 1 tr in
usual way (3 bls increased). Ch 7, turn.
Row 4: Tr in 5th ch from hook, tr in 2 tr, 3 bls, 3 shadow sps, ch 3, sk 3 tr, tr in next tr (sp
over shadow sp), make 8 more sps, 3 shadow sps, tr in 11 tr, foundation tr in top st of
turning ch, make 3 more foundation tr and 1 tr in usual way. Ch 11, turn.
Rows 5 & 6: Follow chart. Ch 7 at end of 6th row.
