Pumpkin Hot Pad
Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn Orange (A) 1 ½ ozs, Black (B) 5 yds and Green ©) 5 yds
Crochet Hooks Size H or 5.00 mm
Note: Make 2 and sew together
Finished Size Approximately 8 ½" in diameter
With colour B, ch 6; join with slip st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: (right side): Ch 1, 12 sc in ring; join with slip st to first sc, finish off
Rnd 2: With right side facing, join colour A with slip st in any sc; ch 4, (counts as first dc plus ch 1), (dc
in next sc, ch 1) around; join with slip st to first dc; 12 ch-1 sps.
Rnd 3: Slip st in first ch-1 sp, ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), 2 dc in same sp, ch 1, (3
dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) around; join with slip st to first dc: 36 dc.
To work cluster (uses next 3 dc), * yo, insert hook in next dc, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw
through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * 2 times more, yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook.
Note: When changing colours, do not cut old yarn unless otherwise specified; keep unused colour to
wrong side of work.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1; drop colour A, with colour B ch 1, work cluster changing to colour A;
cut colour B, (ch 2, dc in next 3 dc) twice, ch 1; cut colour A, with colour B ch 1, dc in next 3 dc, (ch 2,
dc in next 3 dc) 4 times changing to colour A in last dc; cut colour B, (ch 2, dc in next 3 dc) twice, ch 1;
drop colour A, with colour B ch 1, work cluster changing to colour A; cut colour B, ch 2; join with slip st
to first dc, do not finish off; 12 ch-2 sps.
Rnd 5: Slip st in next 2 dc and in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp, ch 2, (4 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2)
around; join with slip st to first dc: 48 dc and 12 ch-2 sps.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, (3 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next 4 dc) 11 times changing to colour C in last
dc; cut colour A, 3 dc in least ch-2 sp; join with sl st to first dc.
Sew the two together.
Stem: Ch 3, turn; dc in next 3 dc; finish off.
