Puffed Shell Carriage Set
Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn: 12 oz each of pink and blue
Crochet Hook Size F/5 or 4.00 mm
Finished Size Approximately 28” Wide x 31” Long
Carriage Cover:
Row 1: With blue ch 87, 5 dc n 4th ch from hook, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, * ch 1, 5 dc in
same ch, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, rep from * across row, end with sc in last ch, fasten off.
Row 2: Attach pink in last sc, ch 3, turn, 5 dc in first sc, sc in ch-1 space, * ch 1, 5 dc in
same ch-1 space, sc in next ch-1 space, rep from * across, end with sc in last dc, fasten
off.
Row 3: Attach blue in last sc, ch 3, turn, 5 dc in first sc, sc in ch-1 space, *( ch 1, 5 dc in
same ch-1 space, sc in next ch-1 space, rep from * across, end with sc in last dc, fasten
off.
Rep rows 2 and 3, alternating colours, until piece measures 24”, end with row 3.
Border:
Rnd 1: Attach blue in 2nd dc of first shell in top right, ch 1, * 1 sc in each of 3 center dc of
shell, rep from * across top, 2 sc in corner st, 3 sc in each 2 row ends along side, 2 sc in
next corner, 3 sc in each ch-3 space across bottom, 2 sc in corner, 3 sc in each 2 row
ends along other side, join with sl st in first sc, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around with 2 sc in each corner st, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off,
turn.
Rnd 3: Attach pink, sc in each sc around with 2 sc in each corner, join with sl st in first sc,
ch 1, turn.
Rnd 4: Rep rnd 2.
Continue working 2 rnds of each colour until 12 rnds have been completed.
Edging:
Attach blue in 3rd sc before corner, ch 1, sc in same sc, * skip 2 sc, 7 tr in next sc, skip 2
sc , sc in next sc, change to pink, work over blue, skip 2 sc, 7 tr in next sc, skip 2 sc, sc in
next sc, change to blue, work over pink, rep from * around entire cover, adjust as
necessary to have shell in each corner, skip 1 sc at corners.
Pillow:
Row 1: With blue ch 48, 5 dc in 4th ch from hook, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, * ch 1, 5 dc in
same ch, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, rep from * across row, end with sc in last ch, fasten off.
Rows 2-19: Rep rows 2-19 of carriage cover.
Border:
Rnds 1-8: Rep rnds 1-8 of carriage cover.
Edging:
Work as for carriage cover.
