Strawberry Potholder or Hot Pad
Materials: For Potholder - Crochet Cotton Red & Small Amount of White & Green
For Hot Pad - Worsted Weight Yarn Red & Small Amount of White & Green
Strawberry (make 2):
With red ch 7, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts of ch, 2 sc in
each of the next 2 sts of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows.
Row 2: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each remaining sc.
Row 3: Work 1 row even
Row 4: Working in sc work 3 sc in first sc and 2 sc in last sc.
Row 5: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each remaining sc.
Row 6: Increase 1 sc at the beginning and end of row.
Row 7 & 8: Same as 5th row.
Row 9: Same as 4th row.
Rows 10, 11 & 12: Work even rows.
Row 13: Same as 5th row.
Row 14: Same as 4th row.
Row 15: Same as 5th row.
Rows 16, 17 & 18: Work row even.
Row 19: Decrease 1 sc at the beginning and end of row (to decrease: insert hook in
st, pull loop through, insert hook in next st, pull loop though, yarn over and work off
all loops at one time)
Row 20: Work even row.
Row 21: Same as row 19.
Row 22: Work even row.
Row 23: Same as row 19.
Row 24: Decrease in first 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 7 sc, sl st in next sc, ch 1,
turn.
Row 25: Skip the sl st, decrease in next 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sc, decrease
in next 2 sts.
Row 26: Decrease in first 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, break yarn.
Row 27: Skip 1 sc from sl st of 24th row, 1 sc in each of the next 6 sc, decrease in
next 2 sts.
Row 28: Decrease in first 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc, decrease in next 2 sts.
Row 29: Decrease in first 2 sts, 1 sc in next 2 sts, break yarn.
Hull:
With green ch 26, sc in 2nd st from hook, sc in next st of ch, 1 dc in each of the next
4 sts, 1 trc in each of the next 12 sts, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, 1 sc in each of next
3 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 1 dc in each of next 10 sts, 1 sc in each remaining
st, break thread.
Work 2 more hull sections in same manner and sew to top of front section as in pic.
With white embroider seeds on front section using running stitch.
Finishing:
With red crochet the 2 sections together with a row of sc. Crochet a loop for hanging.
