Popcorn Stocking
Materials: Knitting Worsted Yarn; 4 ozs White, 2 ozs Turquoise
Crochet Hook Size H or 5.00
Tapestry Needle
Leg:
With white, ch 36.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch. Ch 1, turn. (35 sc).
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Drop white, join turquoise. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: (right side): With turquoise, sc in each of first 2 sc, yo, draw up lp ½” long,
(yo, draw up lp ½” long in same sc) twice; yo draw through all lps (cluster made), * sc
in each of next 2 sc, cluster in next sc. Rep from * across, end with sc in each of next
2 sc. Break off, do not turn.
Row 4: (right side): Pick up white at beg of last row, with white sc in each of first 2 sc,
* sc in cluster, sc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * across. Ch 1, turn. (35 sc)
Row 5, 6 and 7: With white, sc in each sc. At end of row 7, drop white, join turquoise.
Chg 1, turn. Repeat rows 3 through 7 for pattern, and at the same time, after 3
cluster rows, dec 1 sc at beg of next 3 sc rows (32 sc). Work even in pattern til l3
rows of sc after 7th cluster row is completed. Break off, turn.
Foot: Instep:
Sk first 8 sc, with white sc in each of next 16 sc (do not work last 8 sc). Ch 1, turn.
Work even in sc on these 16 sc only for 5”. Break off.
Heel: With white and working on sts of last long row, sc in each of next 7 sc, work 2 sc
in next sc and mark 2nd sc, work 16 sc along side of heel, then sc across last row of
instep, work 16 sc along other side of heel, 2 sc in next sc, and mark first sc, sc in
each of next 7 sc of last long row. Join with sl st to first sc. Work in rounds from now
on.
Rnds 2 & 3: Sc in each sc around and work 2 sc in each marked sc, join as before.
Rnds 4, 5 & 6: Sc in each around. Join.
Finishing: Fold last row in half and sew on crochet seam. Sew or crochet back seam.
