Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn; Main colour 2 ozs, colours A thru D 1 oz each
Crochet Hook Size J or 6.00 mm
Square Pillow Form 14” x 14”
Finished Size Approximately 14” x 14”
Gauge: In pattern, 13 sts and 9 rows = 4”
Stripe Sequence:
* 2 rows main colour, 2 rows colour A, 2 rows colour B, 2 rows colour C, 2 rows colour D;
repeat from * 2 times more, 1 row main colour.
Front:
With main colour, ch 46 loosely.
Row 1: (right side): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across: 45 sts.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc, now and throughout), turn; hdc in next 2 hdc, (ch 3, sk
next 3 hdc, hdc in next 3 hdc) across; finish off.
Note: Work long double crochet as follows: yo, working over ch-3 sp, insert hook in st
below ch-3 sp and pull up a lp even with hook, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook)
twice.
Row 3: With right side facing, join new colour with sl st in first hdc; ch 2, hdc in next 2 hdc,
* work Ldc in first hdc below next ch-3 sp, work front post tr (fptr) around post of next hdc
below same ch-3 sp, work Ldc in next hdc below same ch-3 sp, hdc in next 3 hdc; repeat
from * across.
Row 4: Ch 2, turn; hdc in next 2 hdc, * ch 3, skip next 3 sts, hdc in next 3 hdc; repeat from
* across; finish off.
Row 5: With right side facing, join new colour with sl st in first hdc, ch 2, hdc in next 2 hdc,
* work Ldc in first Ldc below next ch-3 sp, work fptr around post of fptr below same ch-3
sp, work Ldc in next Ldc below same ch-3 sp, hdc in next 3 hdc; repeat from * across.
Rows 6-31: Repeat rows 4 and 5, 13 times.
Edging:
With main colour, ch 1, (3 sc in corner, work 45 sc evenly spaced across to corner, 3 sc in
corner, sc in each st across to corner) twice; join with sl st to first sc, finish off: 192 sc.
Back:
Work same as front; do not finish off.
Finishing:
With main colour, work reverse double crochet joining as follows: With wrong sides
together and front facing, work through both sts of both pieces as follows: ch 4, working
from left to right, skip next st, * yo, insert hook in next st to right of hook, yo and draw
through, under and to left of loop on hook (3 loops on hook), (yo and draw through 2
loops on hook) twice, ch 1, skip next st; repeat from * around inserting pillow form before
closing; join with sl st to base of beginning ch 4, finish off.
