Steel Crochet Hook Size 7 or 1.50 mm
Pillow Form 14” x 14”
½ yd Fabric for Lining
Tapestry Needle
Spray Starch
Sewing Needle and Thread
Finished Size Approximately 14” x 14”
Gauge: 4 sp or bl = 1”
Note: When working pattern 4 dc = 1 bl, 7 dc = 2 bl. Add 3 dc for each attached bl. When
following chart, work right side rows from right to left and wrong side rows from left to right.
Starting at lower edge, ch 167.
Row 1: Dc in 8th ch from hook for first sp, (ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch) 53 times. Ch 5,
turn. (54 sp)
Row 2: Sk first sp, dc in next dc, * ch 2, sk sp, dc in next dc. Rep from * across to last sp,
ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next st of turning ch. Ch 5, turn.
Row 3: Sk first sp, dc in next dc, (ch 2, sk sp, dc in next dc) 25 times, work (2 dc in next
sp, dc in next dc) twice, work 26 sp to end of row. Ch 5, turn.
Row 4: Work 25 sp, 2 dc in next sp, dc in each of next 7 dc, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc,
work 25 sp to end of row. Ch 5, turn.
Row 5: Work 25 sp, 4 bl, 1 sp, 2 bl and 22 sp. Ch 5, turn.
Row 6: Work 21 sp, 4 bl, 1 sp, 2 bl, 2 sp, 2 bl, 22 sp. Ch 5, turn.
Row 7: Work 21 sp, 4 bl, 4 sp, 4 bl, 22 sp. Ch 5, turn.
Row 8: Work 22 sp, 2 bl, 1 sp, 3 bl, 1 sp, 4 bl, work spaces to end of row. Ch 5, turn.
Row 9-66: Starting with row 9, follow chart for design. At end of last row do not ch 5 or
break off.
Border:
Rnd 1: Ch 3, work 2 dc in corner sp, * work (3 dc in next sp, 2 dc in next sp) to next corner
sp, in corner sp work 5 dc. Rep from * around, end with 2 dc in first corner. Join with sl st
in top of ch-3.
Rnd 2: * Sc in next dc, sk 2 dc, work a 5 dc shell in next dc, sk 2 dc. Rep from * around.
Join and break off.
Finishing:
Lining: Cut 2 pieces from fabric, each 15” x 15”. Using ½” seam allowance, hold both
pieces together and sew on 3 sides, leaving 4th side open. Turn to right side; insert pillow
form, sew 4th side closed. Weave in ends. Spray starch pillow top, if desired, easing piece
to 14” x 14”. When dry, sew to one side of covered pillow with needle and thread.
