Northern Splendor Hat and
Cowl
                                                        Northern Splendor Hat

Red Heart Ombre (and colour)
I used about 1/2 skein for hat and cowl.

Crochet Hook Size 5.00
(if larger size is required use a larger hook, this is about a ladies medium)

Hat

Ch 5, sl st in first st.

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 9 dc in ring, join with sl st in space between ch and first st.

Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in space between each dc around, join with sl st to first ch 3.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, *2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc*, continue from * to * ending with sl st to first ch 3.

Rnd 4: Ch 3, *1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, continue around working 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2
dc in next dc, then sl st to first ch 3.

Rnd 5: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next, continue around working 1 dc in each of next 3
dc, 2 dc in next, sl st to first ch 3 to end.

Rnd 6: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc 2 dc in next, continue around working 1 dc in each of next 4
dc, 2 dc in next, sl st to first ch 3 to end.

Rnd 7: Ch 1,(sc, 2 dc) in first dc, skip next 2 dc, * (sc, 2 dc) in next dc, skip next 2 dc; repeat from *
around, sc in top of beginning ch.

Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in next st and in each st around.

Repeat rnds 7 and 8, 5 times total rows from start are 15.

I did a crab stitch row to complete just for a nice edging which is a single crochet from right instead of
left.

                                                 Northern Splendor Cowl

Red Heart Ombre (and colour)
I used about 1/2 ball for my hat and cowl.

Size 6.00 mm crochet hook

Stitches Used: Very easy pattern, dc, sc and ch.

Ch 33.

Row 1: Dc in third ch from hk, dc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in first dc, in same dc 2 dc. *Skip 2 dc then sc, dc, dc in next dc*. Repeat * to * to end. Ch
3, turn.

Row 3: Dc in each dc to end. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until 50 rows completed. Bind off and sew ends together.

If you would like a thicker cowl just add more stitches to initial ch and if you would like it longer add
more rows. This pattern can be used for a scarf also just add a lot more rows and do not sew
together.
