Rnd 4: Join White in any ch-2 space. Repeat Rnd 3 having 2 groups of 3 dc between

Joining:
Squares are joined into 6 rows of 6 squares each. To join, hold two squares with right
sides facing, sl st squares together loosely with white, inserting the hook into the back
loops only of each square.
Join each row of squares first; tie a number on each finished row so that you don’t get
them mixed up later when joining row to row. Join squares in each row as follows (from left
to right):
Row 1: Vermillion, Scarlet, Burnt Orange, Tangerine, Orange, Orange.
Row 2: Jockey Red, Vermillion, Scarlet, Burnt Orange, Tangerine Orange.
Row 3: Gold, Jockey Red, Vermillion, Scarlet, Burnt Orange, Tangerine.
Row 4: Maize, Gold, Jockey Red, Vermillion, Scarlet, Burnt Orange
Row 5: Yellow, Maize, Gold Jockey Red, Vermillion, Scarlet
Row 6: Yellow, Yellow, Maize, Gold, Jockey Red, Vermillion
Now join the strips, slip stitching each strip to the one below, again with right sides facing
and working into back loop of each stitch; carefully match stitches as you work, and work
a ch-1 between each square (this keeps work flat). Weave in loose ends.
Edging:
Join white with a sl st in any ch-2 corner sp; work 3 rnds in Granny Square pattern, finish
off.
Pillow:
Work two squares in each colour. For each pillow side, join squares as for afghan in 3
rows of 3 squares, arranging colours as you choose.
To finish pillow, place the two pillow squares with wrong sides together and working
through both layers, join white with a sl st in any ch-2 corner sp; work around 3 sides in
Granny Square pattern, working (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each corner sp; insert pillow form (or
stuffing), continue to close fourth side of pillow. Work one more round in white, finish off.
Weave in ends.
