Lavender Daisies Baby Afghan
Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn 24 ozs Lavender (A), 12 ozs Lilac (B)
Crochet Hook Size I or 5.50 mm
Finished Size Approximately 34" x 36"
Note: To change colour at end of row, work across, yo, draw up a loop in last st (3 loops
on hook), yo, draw through 2 loops, change to new colour; yo, draw through rem 2 loops,
ch 3, turn.
With colour A and I hook, ch 84 sts loosely.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across; ch 2, turn. 82 dc.
Row 2: Repeat Row 1, joining colour B on last st; ch 1, turn. Fasten off colour A.
Row 3: Sc in each dc across, ch 2, turn.
Row 4: Insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, yo, draw a loop through (2 loops on hook), insert
hook in first sc, yo, draw a loop through; draw a loop though the next 2 sc, yo, draw loop
though all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 (daisy made); * insert hook in center loop of daisy just
made, yo, draw a loop though; insert hook in last ch-1 of daisy just made and pull loop
through; draw a loop through next 2 sc, yo, draw a loop though all 5 loops, ch 1, repeat
from * for pattern, ending by working a dc under turning ch; 40 daisy patterns. Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: Skip first st, sc in next st and in eahc st across, ch 2, turn.
Row 6: Repeat row 4.
Row 7: Repeat row 5, changing to colour A in last stitch; fasten off colour B leaving a 4"
yarn end for weaving later.
Row 8: With colour A, sk first sc, dc in next sc and in each st across; ch 2, turn.
Repeat rows 2 through 8 for pattern, until afghan measures about 36", ending by working
row 2.
Border:
Rnd 1: On right side with long end of afghan facing, attach colour A to corner of dc row.
Work sc in each dc across to corner, work 3 sc in corner. Work sc n each dc bar to next
dc corner (adjust sc sts to keep work flat). Work 3 sc in corner and in each dc to next
corner; work 3 sc in corner and sc evenly spaced along side to beginning corner; sl st into
sc at beg of round.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc and in each sc around, working 3 sc in each corner sc. Sl st in
top of beg of rnd.
Rnd 3: Sl st to middle sc of next corner sc, sk 2 sc; * (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc; shell made) in next
st; skip 2 sts, sc in next sc. Repeat from * to next corner, ending with a shell, sc in top of 3
sc group in corner. Fasten off.
Weave in all loose ends.
