Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn 3 ½ oz Skeins; 9 Skeins White, 6 Skeins Pink
Crochet Hook Size I or 5.50 mm
Finished Size Approximately 50" x 54"
Note: Afghan is worked from side to side. To change colour, work last yo of last st before
colour change in new colour.
With pink, ch181.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook; dc in each rem ch across–180 sts, counting ch-2 turning
ch as stitch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across; sc in top of turning ch–180 sts.
Change to white. Turn.
Note: Ch-1 turning ch at beg of sc rows is not counted as a stitch.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, changing to pink in last st. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 2, sk first st, work dc in next 2 sc, work front post triple crochet (fptr) in next
pink sc 3 rows down; * sk sc behind post st, work dc in next 3 sc, work fptc in next pink sc
3 rows down; repeat from * across, end dc in last 3 sc. Turn.
Rows 6-13: Rep rows 2-5 twice.
Row 14: Repeat Row 2.
Row 15: Ch 2, sk first st, work dc in each sc across. Turn.
Row 16: Ch 2, sk first st, work dc in each dc across, dc in turning ch. Turn.
Row 17: Ch 1, sc in each dc across, sc in turning ch. Turn.
Row 18-26: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. Turn.
Row 27: Ch 2, sk first st, dc in each sc across. Turn.
Row 28: Ch 2, sk first st, dc in each dc across; dc in turning ch and change to pink. Turn.
Row 29: Ch 2, sk first st, dc in each dc across; dc in turning ch. Turn. Rep rows 2-29 four
times more. Rep rows 2-14 once. Turn.
Edging:
Row 1: Ch 1, * sc in each st across, working 5 sc in corner st; sc evenly down side edge,
working 5 sc in corner; rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. With white, ch 1.
Row 2: Rep Row 1 using white and changing to pink on ch 1 at end of row.
Row 3: Rep Row 1, omitting last ch-1. Fasten off.
Finishing:
With tapestry needle and pink , work cross stitch design in center of white panels,
beginning at bottom of chart and positioning bottom of first heart 2 stitches above first row
of edging. Rep Rows 1-18; then Rows 7-18 thirteen times more.
