Easy Granny Afghan
Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn; 28 ozs Black, 6 ozs each Pink Ombre (A), Blue Ombre
(B), Green Ombre ©), Orange Ombre (D)
Crochet Hook Size I or 5.50 mm
Finished Size Approximately 43" x 63"
Squares: (make 6 with each ombre colour, 24 squares in all)
With black, make a sl knot on hook, leaving a 3" end; ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.
Note: On the first rnd, work over the 3" end to keep down the number of ends to run in
after square is completed.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring; (ch 2, 3 dc n ring) 3 times, ch 2, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg
ch-3. Finish off black. The side now facing you is right side.
Rnd 2: With ombre, make a sl knot on hook. With right side of rnd 1 facing you, join ombre
with a sl st in any ch-2 sp (these are corner sps), ch 3, 2 dc in same sp; ch 2, 3 dc again
in same sp, * in next ch-2 sp, work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc); rep from * twice, join with a sl st in
3rd ch of beg ch-3; sl st across tops of next 2 dc and into ch-2 sps.
Rnd 3: Continuing with ombre, in same ch-2 sp, (ch 3, 2 dc in sp; ch 2, 3 dc in sp);
between next two 3-dc groups work 3 dc for side; * (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in next ch-2 sp for
corner; 3 dc between next two 3-dc groups for side; rep from * twice, join with a sl st in 3rd
ch of beg ch-3; finish off ombre.
Rnd 4: With right side of work facing, join black as before in any ch-2 corner sp; (ch 3, 2
dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in same sp; * (3 dc between next two 3-dc groups) twice for side; (3 dc,
ch 2, 3 dc) all in next ch-2 sp for corner; rep from * twice; (3 dc between next two 3-dc
groups) twice for side; join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3; sl st across tops of next 2 dc
and into ch-2 sp.
Rnd 5: Continuing with black, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in same corner sp; * (3 dc
between next two 3-dc groups) 3 times for side; (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp for
corner; rep from * twice; (3 dc between next two 3-dc groups) 3 times for side; join with sl
st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3; finish off black.
Rnd 6: Join ombre as before in any ch-2 corner sp; (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in same sp;
* 3 dc between every 3-dc group for side; (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 space; rep from *
twice; 3 dc between every 3-dc group for side; join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3; sl st
across tops of next 2 dc and into ch-2 sps.
Rnd 7: Continuing with ombre, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in same sp; * 3 dc between every
3-dc group for side; (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp; rep from * twice; 3 dc between
every 3-dc group for side; join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3; sl st across tops of next 2
dc and into ch-2 sp.
Rnd 8: Rep rnd 7, but finish by joining with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3; finish off ombre.
Rnd 9: With black, rep rnd 6.
Rnd 10: Continuing with black, rep rnd 7, but finish by joining with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg
ch-3; finish off black.
Weave in all loose ends.
