Materials: One 8 oz Skein Red Heart Super Saver Worsted Weight Yarn
         Crochet Hook Size I or 5.50 mm
         Sewing Needle and Thread
         2 - ¾” Buttons and Thread

Finished Size Approximately 14 ½” from Neck to Base of Tail

Stitch Guide:
Reverse Single Crochet: Working from left to right. * insert hook in st to right of hook, yo
and draw through, under and to left of loop on hook (2 loops on hook), yo and draw
through both loops on hook; repeat from * around.
Long Double Crochet (LDC): yo, insert hook in st indicated, yo and pull up a loop even
with loop on hook, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. (counts as one dc).
Cross Stitch (cross st) (uses next 3 sc): Skip next 2 sc, work LDC in next sc, ch 1, working
around LDC just made, Work LDC in first skipped sc.

Body:
Work 48 loosely.
Row 1: (right side): Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (47 sc)
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), turn; work Cross Sts across to last
sc, dc in last sc. (32 dc and 15 ch-1 sps.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each dc and in each ch-1 sp across. (47 sc)
Row 4: Ch 3, turn; work Cross Sts across to last sc, dc in last sc. (32 dc and 15 ch-1 sps)
Row 5-7: Repeat rows 3 and 4 once, then repeat row 3 once more.
Row 8: Ch 3, turn; work 12 Cross Sts, dc in next sc, leave remaining 9 sc unworked. (26
dc and 12 ch-1 sps)
Row 9: Ch 1, turn; sc in each dc and in each ch-1 sp across. (38 sc)
Row 10: Ch 3, turn; work Cross Sts across to last sc, dc in last sc. (26 dc and 12 ch-1 sps)
Row 11-20: Repeat rows 9 and 10, 5 times.
Row 21: Ch 10 loosely, turn; sc in second ch from hook and in next 8 chs, sc in each dc
and in each ch-1 sp across. (47 sc)
Row 22: Ch 3, turn; work Cross Sts across to last sc, dc in last sc. (32 dc and 15 ch-1 sps)
Row 23-27: Repeat rows 3 and 4 twice, then repeat row 3 once more.
Finish off.

Joining:
With right side together and matching marked end of Rows 1-7 to end of Rows 22-27,
having Row 27 to the right and working through both thicknesses, join yarn with sl st in
first row; ch 1, sc evenly across end of rows; do not finish off.

Neck Ribbing:
Foundation Rnd: Ch 1, with right side facing, sc in next 8 sc; working in end of rows, sc in
next 13 rows; working in free loops of ch on row 21, sc in next 8 chs; join with sl st to first
sc. (29 sc)
Note: Begin working in rows.
Row 1: Ch 16 loosely, sc in back ridge of fourth ch from hook and in each ch across, sl st
in first 2 sc on foundation rnd. (13 sc)
Row 2: Turn; skip first 2 sl sts, sc in back loop only of each sc across.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn; sc in back loop only of each sc across, sl st in next 2 sc on foundation
rnd.
Row 4: Turn; skip first 2 sl sts, sc in back loop only of each sc across.
Row 5-28: Repeat rows 3 and 4, 12 times.
Row 29: Ch 3, turn; sc in back loop only of each sc across, sl st in last sc on foundation
rnd; do not finish off.
Joining: With right sides together, working in free loops of beginning ch and in both loops
of sc on row 29, skip first sl st, sc in next 7 sts, leave remaining sts unworked; finish off.

Belly Band:
Row 1: With wrong side of body facing, skip first 21 sc of row 27 and join yarn with sl st in
next sc; ch 3, work 3 Cross Sts, dc in next sc, leave remaining sts unworked. (8 dc and 3
ch-1 sps)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each dc and in each ch-1 sp across. (11 sc)
Row 3: Ch 3, turn; work 3 Cross Sts, dc in last sc. (8 dc and 3 ch-1 sps)
Row 4-8: Repeat rows 2 and 3 twice, then repeat row 2 once more; do not finish off.

Edging:
Rnd 1: Ch 1, do not turn; sc evenly around belly band and body working 3 sc in each
corner; join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, working from left to right, work reverse sc in each sc around; join with sl st to
first st, finish off.
With right side facing, lap wrong side of belly band over right side of body. Sew buttons on
row 3 of body to correspond with inside of first and last dc on row 7 of belly band.
