Materials: Knitting Worsted Weight Yarn; 4 ozs Christmas Ombre, 1 oz each Eggshell,
Red and Green.
Gold Metallic Yarn
Aluminum Crochet Hooks Size I or 5.50 and H or 5.00 mm
11 Large Pearl Beads
½ yard ¼” wide Red Velvet Ribbon
Sewing Needle and Thread
Tapestry Needle
Stocking:
Starting at lower edge of foot, with ombre and size I hook, ch 65.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (64 sc)
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Rep row 2 until foot is 5 ½” from beg. Break off, turn.
First Short Row: Sk first 10 sts, sc in each of next 44 sts, do not work rem 10 sts. Ch
1, turn. Work even on 44 sc for 7 ½” more. At end of last row break off ombre, join
eggshell and ch 1, turn. With eggshell continue in sc for 2” more. Piece is 15” from
beg. Break off eggshell, join green and ch 3, turn.
Ruffle:
Row 1: Work 2 dc at base of ch-3. * work 3 dc in next st. Rep from * across. Break
off, join red. With red, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: * Sc in each of next 5 sts, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook for picot. Rep from *
across. Break off.
Tree:
Starting at widest part of tree, with green and size H hook, ch 17.
Row 1: (right side): Work 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, drop loop from hook, insert hook
in top of turning ch and draw lp through, ch 1 to fasten (first popcorn made), * work 3
dc in next ch, drop loop from hook, insert in top of first dc in this group and draw lp
though, ch 1 to fasten (another popcorn made). Rep from * across. Ch 3, turn. (14
popcorns).
Row 2: (wrong side): Sk first popcorn, work 2 dc in sp before next popcorn, drop loop
from hook, insert hook from back to front in top of turning ch and complete first
popcorn as before * sk next popcorn, work popcorn in sp before next popcorn. Rep
from * across. Ch 3, turn. (13 popcorns)
Row 3: Work across in popcorn pattern (12 popcorns). Ch 3, turn.
Continue in this manner, having one less popcorn on each row, until 1 popcorn left.
Break off.
Trunk of Tree: With green, ch 6. Work as for row 1 (3 popcorns). Break off.
Trim: Red Balls: Make 9.
With red and size H hook, ch 4. Work 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, drop loop from hook,
insert hook in top of turning ch and draw dropped loop through, ch 1 to fasten.
Leaving a 3” end of yarn for sewing, break off.
Finishing: Embroidery:
Fold leg of stocking in half lengthwise; and following pic, embroider name on front
half of eggshell stripe, with red yarn. With size H hook and gold metallic yarn, sc over
the red stitches.
Tree: Sew trunk in place, at lower edge (see pic). Trim tree with red balls and white
pearl beads. With gold, crochet a long chain to decorate tree. Sew chain in place.
Sew tree to front half of stocking. For top of tree, with gold ch 3, work 10 sc in 3rd ch
from hook. * Sc in next sc, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook for picot. Rep from * around.
Break off. Sew in place. Fold stocking lengthwise, with right sides facing, sew back
seam, then sew foot seam, rounding out corners. Turn to right side.
Hanger:
With green and size I hook, ch 20.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off, join red and ch 1,
turn.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Break off. Sew ends together to form a loop. Sew to top
of stocking at back seam. With ribbon, make a small bow, sew on tree.
