Materials: 4 Ply Hand Knitting Red HeartYarn 52 ozs White, 12 oz Black, One Skein of
Vibrant Orange, Burnt Orange, Pink
Crochet Hook Size K or 7.00 mm
Finished Size Approximately 45" x 65"
Granny Square Motif: (make 1 pink; 4 burnt orange; 4 vibrant orange; 16 black; 92 white
With 2 strands held together, ch 4; join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 4, 2 tr in ring, ch 3; (3 tr in ring, ch 3) 3 times; join to top of ch-4.
Rnd 2: Ch 4, tr in next 2 tr, * in next sp work (3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr); tr in next 3 tr. Repeat from *
around, joining last tr to top of ch-4; fasten off.
Joining:
Motifs are crocheted together in vertical and horizontal rows with double strand of yarn.
For joining th e15 center motifs, use colours indicated on joining chart. Use white for
joining of all remaining motifs. Following chart for position of motifs, work all vertical rows
first, then horizontal rows.
Vertical Rows:
With wrong sides of motifs held together and picking up the inside loops only of sts to be
joined, attach double strand to center ch of corner. Ch 1, sc through th e2 inside loops of
each st to center st of next corner of same 2 motifs. Don not break off, but continue
joining all motifs in same manner for length of afghan. Fasten off.
Horizontal Rows: Work as for vertical rows, but make a ch 2 at each crossing of vertical
rows and skip the 2 sc’s underneath.
Fringe:
Cut strands of white each 16 inches long. Fold four strands in half for each knot. Space 6
knots evenly along each motif across each narrow edge.
