Materials: 23 Yds Crochet Cotton
Steel Crochet Hook Size 7
1/6 yd 1/8” Satin Ribbon
White Craft Glue
Finished Size Approximately 6 ½” long excluding Tassle
Gauge: Rows 1-3 = ½” wide
Instructions-Starting Along Shaft
Ch 26 (=3 ¼”)
Row 1: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (last 2 ch stand as first hdc). Work 1 hdc in each of next
23 ch. (25 hdc)
Rows 2 & 3: Ch 2 (first hdc), turn. 1 hdc in each of next 24 hdc. Rep row once more.
Pineapple:
Row 4: Ch 5. Work 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in top of last hdc made (shell made). Ch 3. Work 2 dc,
ch 2, 2 dc n back lp of first ch of beg ch 26. (shell made).
Row 5: Ch 5, turn. 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in ch 2 sp of first shell (shell in shell made). Ch 2, 9 dc
in ch 3 sp. Ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in ch 2 sp of next shell.
Row 6: Ch 5, turn. Shell in ch 2 sp of first shell. Ch 2, sk ch 2 sp, 1 trc in next dc. (ch 1, 1
trc in next dc) 8 times. Ch 2, sk ch 2 sp. Shell in next shell. (9 trc)
Row 7: Ch 5, turn. Shell in first shell. Ch 2, sk ch 2 sp. 1 sc in first ch 1 sp. (Ch 3, 1 sc in
next ch 1 sp) 7 times. Ch 2, sk ch 2 sp. Shell in next shell. (7 ch3 lps)
Row 8: Ch 5, turn. Shell in first shell. Ch 2, sk ch 2 sp. 1 sc in first ch 3 lp. (Ch 3, 1 sc in
next ch 3 lp) 6 times. Ch 2, sk ch 2 sp. Shell in next shell. (6 ch3 lps)
Rows 9-13: Rep row 8 five more times working one less ch 3 lp in pineapple per row with
only one ch 3 lp in final row.
Row 14: Ch 5, turn. Shell in first shell. Ch 2, sk ch 2 sp. 1 sc in ch 3 lp. Ch 2, sk ch 2 sp.
Shell in next shell.
Row 15: Ch 5, turn. Work 2 dc in ch 2 sp of first shell and 2 dc in ch 2 sp of next shell. Ch
5, sl st in 3rd dc of next shell of prev row. Break off.
Teeth:
Row 1: Join in top of 4th hdc made in row 3. Ch 2 (first hdc), 1 hdc in each of next 5 hdc.
Row 2: Ch 2 (first hdc), turn. 1 hdc in each of next 5 hdc.
Row 3: Ch 3 (first dc), turn. 1 hdc in next hdc. Ch 1. 1 sl st in each of next 2 hdc. Ch 1. 1
hdc in next hdc. 1 dc in next hdc. Finish off.
Tassle:
Wrap a 4 yd length of crochet cotton around a 2 1/2" wide piece of cardboard. Remove
from cardboard. Tie end of a 6" length together and attach this loop to center of folded 4
yd length with a larkshead knot. Tie a simple knot in the loop at top of tassle to secure.
Tie a wrap around tassle using a 15" length. Clip bottom ends of tassle and attach tassle
to project with larkshead knot.
Finishing:
Little or no blocking is required. Tie a bow with ribbon and glue or sew in place.
