Baby’s Hold-All Hanging FREE Crochet Pattern
Materials: Medium Weight Cotton Yarn 13 oz White A, 2 ozs each Blue B & Red C
Crochet Hooks Size F or 4.00 mm, G or 4.50 mm, I or 5.50 mm
1 ½ yds of 1" wide striped binding tape
19 ½" of 1/4" wooden dowelling for hanging
Tapestry Needle
Note: When working stripe pattern, carry A loosely up side of work.
Main Part:
Using size G or 4.50 mm hook and A and beginning at top, ch 71.
Base Row (wrong side): 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch to end. Turn. 70 sc.
Pattern Row: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. Rep pattern row 5 more times.
Begin 4-row stripe pattern as follows:
Row 1: (right side): Using B, ch 1, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, 1 st st in each st to end. Turn. Break off B.
Row 3 & 4: Using C, as first and 2nd rows.
Break off C and continue in A only, working in sc pattern until main part measures 30", ending
with right side row. Repeat 4-row stripe pattern, noting that pattern beginning on wrong side to
allow for turn-up.
**Continue in A and work 7 more rows. Do not turn at end of last row. Break off A. Using F or
4.00 mm hook and C, work 1 row crab stitch (sc worked from left to right). Fasten off. **
Small Pockets:
Using G or 4.50 mm hook and A, ch 29. Work base and pattern rows as for main part. 28 sc.
Repeat pattern row until pocket measures 4 1/4", ending with wrong side row.
Work 4-row stripe pattern as for main part, then complete as for main part form ** to **. Make
one more pocket in same way. Make two more pockets, reversing contrasting colours B and C.
To Finish:
Fold up 6 1/4" to right side to lower edge to form lower pocket and pin in place. Using tapestry
needle, sew side seams of pocket. Sew invisible seam up center of large pocket to secure.
Pin small pockets in place along sides of main part, the fist two 1 1/4" above lower pocket and
the second two 1 1/4" above the fist two. Sew pockets in place.
Using matching thread and a sewing needle, sew binding along sides, folding under raw
edges at top & bottom. Fold top over rod and stitch firmly to wrong side.
Cord:
Using I or 5.50 hook and 2 strands of B together, make a chain 29" long, leaving long loose
ends at beginning and end of chain. Fasten off.
Tassels: (make 2):
Using B, cut 30 strands 4" long for each tassel. Tie bunch of strands tightly together at center.
Fold strands in half, concealing knot in center. Wrap a long strand around folded strands ½"
from fold and darn ends of strand into center of tassel to secure.
Sew tassels to ends of cord with long loose end. Tie cord to each end of rod.
