Tulips Squares

Row 1: With F hook and yarn , ch 34, sc in second ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn. (33
made; odd numbered rows are right side of work)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first 6 sts; for tulip loops, working ch sts tightly (sc, ch 9, sc, ch 10, sc ch 9, sc)
in next st; (sc in next 9 sts, work tulip loops in next st) 2 times, sc in last 6 sts, turn. (42 sc made)

Row 3: Ch1, sc in first 6 sts, (holding loops toward front side of work, skip first sc at base of
loops; sc in next 2 sc together as one, skip last sc at base of loops, sc in next 9 sts) 2 times;
holding loops toward from side of work, skip first sc at base of loops; sc next 2 sc together as
one, skip last sc at base of loops, sc in last 6 sts, turn. (33 sc)

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts; *inserting hook through first loop of next tulip as you work, sc in next
st; skip center loop, sc in next 5 sts; inserting hook through last loop of same tulip as you work, sc
in next st; sc in next 3 sts; repeat from * across, turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 7: Ch 1, sc in first 6 sts; * inserting hook through center loop of next tulip as you work, work
6 dc in next st (top of tulip completed); sc in next 9 sts; repeat from * across ending last repeat
with sc in last 6 sts, turn.

Row 8: Ch 1, sc in first 6 sts, * ch 1, skip next 6 dc, sc in next 4 sts, work tulip loops in next st, sc
in next 4 sts; repeat from *, ch 1, skip next 6 dc, sc in last 6 sts, turn.

Row 9: Ch 1, *sc in each sc and in each ch across to next set of loops, (holding loops toward
front side of work, skip first sc at base of loops; sc next 2 sc together as one, skip ast sc at base
of loops); repeat from *, sc in each sc and in each ch across to end, turn. (33 sc)

Row 10: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 11: Ch 1, sc in first 8 sts; *inserting hook through first loop of next tulip as you work, sc in
next st; skip center loop, sc in next 5 sts; inserting hook through last loop of next tulip as you
work, sc in next st; sc in next 3 sts; repeat from * across ending last repeat with sc in last 8 sts,
turn.

Row 12: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 13: Ch 1, sc in first 11 sts; (inserting hook through center loop of next tulip as you work,
work 6 dc in next st), sc in next 9 sts; repeat between ( ), sc in last 11 sts, turn.

Row 14: Ch 1, sc in first 6 sts, *work tulip loops in next st, sc in next 4 sts, ch 1, skip 6 dc, sc in
next 4 sts; repeat from *, work tulip loops in next st, sc in last 6 sts, turn.

Row 15: Ch 1, sc in each sc across to next set of loops; *(holding loops toward from side of work,
skip first sc at base of loops; sc next 2 sc together as one, skip last sc at base of loops), sc in
each sc and in each ch across to next set of loops; repeat from *, repeat between ( ), sc in each
sc across to end, turn. (33 sc).

Rows 16 to 27: Repeat rows 4 to 15.

Rows 28 to 31: Repeat rows 4 to 7.

Row 32: Ch 1, sc in first 6 sts, * ch 1, skip 6 dc, sc in next 9 sts; repeat from * across ending last
repeat with sc in last 6 sts, do not turn.

Edge: Working in ends of rows and sts around outer edge, ch 1, evenly space 30 sc across each
side of square with (sc, ch 1, sc) in each corner, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
